Looking for a cheap 50-inch LCD TV in no easy task, yet most of us would enjoy

If, for whatever reason, you do not want either a plasma or CRT, perhaps the only way you can get a good price for the unit you want is through season or clearance sales, or
by buying refurbished units.
Refurbished units can cost from 50 to 70% less than the original price. You will want, however, to buy only those that have been refurbished by the manufacturer. These should come with at least a 45-day warranty for both labor and parts. Also, the manufacturer should offer a reasonable period for you to return the unit if you are not completely satisfied with it.
There are a lot of good-as-new inexpensive refurbished units if you are willing to search the Internet and do some legwork.
